KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage full-cycle payroll for salaried, hourly, ensuring compliance with all payroll and statutory requirements.
* Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions processing payments, managing collections, and ensuring timely follow-up.
* Prepare and process trust and general account transactions, including commission payouts, deposits, and reconciliations.
* Handle intercompany accounting, cash calls, and reconciliation of multiple bank and credit card accounts.
* Administer corporate benefits, pension, and health spending accounts
* Ensure timely remittance of GST, corporate taxes, and other filings.
* Support monthly reporting and year-end preparation, working with external accountants and auditors as needed.
* Maintain and improve accounting systems (Sage and Excel), ensuring accurate coding, costing, and allocation across business units.
* Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, bank reporting, and cash flow forecasts for senior leadership.
* Serve as the key contact for banking relationships, trust account compliance, and financial audits.
* Process payroll and deductions for Personal Real Estate Corporations (PREC) associated with ownership.
* Implement and monitor internal financial controls and policies, proactively identifying inconsistencies or risks.
* Maintain organized electronic records for property management reports, company year-end files, and payroll documentation.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience in a multifaceted or real estate-related environment.
* Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, trust accounting, and intercompany transactions.
* Proficiency with Sage and Microsoft Excel; comfort working with both manual and digital accounting processes.
* Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems without micromanagement.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to uphold accounting standards and deadlines across departments.
