We’re partnering with a leading North America manufacturer of commercial HVAC equipment to find an exceptional Senior Design Engineer who will drive innovation in the design and build of roof top units, air handling systems, and energy recovery solutions.

You’ll lead high-profile projects from concept to market, working with state-of-the-art simulation tools and test laboratory facilities while mentoring the next generation of engineering talent.
This is more than just a design role – you’ll be a key technical leader establishing standardization principles and driving operational excellence across multiple product platforms.
YOUR IMPACT:
Lead Innovation:
* Spearhead new product development programs and cost reduction initiatives
* Design and optimize large commercial HVAC systems using advanced analytical methods
* Develop complete product solutions from initial concept through market launch
Drive Technical Excellence:
* Lead mechanical design requirements for Air Handling Units (AHU’s), Roof Top Units (RTU’s), and Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV)
* Ensure quality and timely design releases while coordinating with production teams
Collaborate & Mentor:
* Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and field personnel
* Provide technical mentoring and professional development for junior engineers
* Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sales, and quality
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Education & Professional Standing:
* Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. Master’s degree ideal
* P.Eng. registered or eligible
Experience That Matters:
* 10-15 years of hands-on experience designing commercial HVAC equipment (AHU, RTU, ERV)
* Proven success with large commercial systems including VRF, Make-Up Air Units, and Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems
* Experience with HVAC/Refrigeration/Combustion systems and gas furnace applications
Technical Expertise:
* Deep knowledge of industry standards (ASHRAE 90.1, AHRI 340/360, 430/431, 920/921, 1350/1351)
* Proficiency in in psychrometrics, thermodynamics, and refrigeration cycles
* Comfortable with FMEA, GD&T, and sheet metal modeling
* Advanced CAD skills (ProE/Creo preferred)
* Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma methodologies
Leadership Qualities:
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Strong program management experience with proven schedule adherence
* Ability to multi-task, manage risks, and drive project objectives
* Self-motivated with innovation, drive, and accountability
