We are exclusively recruiting for a Safety Coordinator for our client a leading General Contractor with a reputation for living and breathing safety at every level. Our client is looking for someone who brings energy, expertise, and a passion for creating safe, positive job sites.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As a Safety Coordinator, you’ll be the boots on the ground supporting construction teams across Manitoba and Western Canada. From conducting inspections and toolbox talks to preparing sites for startup and driving COR certification, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a strong safety culture.

This position offers a mix of on-site coaching, inspections, and training, with opportunities to lead safety initiatives at company-wide conferences and client-driven projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

On-Site Leadership

* Conduct regular site visits to monitor compliance, identify hazards, and coach crews
* Complete audits and inspection reports in SiteDocs; ensure timely corrective actions
* Lead toolbox talks (bi-weekly) and safety alerts (minimum monthly) tailored to project risks
* Maintain positive, professional relationships with site teams and subcontractors
* Prepare safety resources for new projects (signage, SDS books, PPE, safety boards, first aid kits, extinguishers)

Training & Coaching
* Maintain training matrix and ensure certifications are current
* Support ongoing training programs, safe job procedures, and high-risk work practices
* Develop safety meeting materials, quizzes, and toolbox content with supervisors
* Promote continuous learning and mentor field teams on hazard recognition

Safety Program & Compliance
* Support and enforce the company’s OHS program across all projects
* Coordinate with shop manager to ensure preventative maintenance compliance
* Maintain accurate safety records: inspections, incidents, near misses, statistics, SiteDocs analytics
* Ensure readiness for COR Certification and assist in audits and documentation reviews
* Organize Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and safety management reviews

Incident & Risk Management
* Participate in incident and near-miss investigations; determine root causes and corrective actions
* Monitor CAPA (Corrective Action / Preventative Action) items for timely closure and effectiveness
* Support emergency response preparedness (equipment checks, drills, certifications)

Communication & Engagement
* Prepare safety alerts, meeting agendas, and company-wide bulletins
* Coordinate annual hearing tests, senior management safety reviews, and the annual safety conference
* Attend job start-up and progress meetings as needed
* Ensure effective communication with employees, subcontractors, and clients regarding safety expectations

MUST HAVES:
* 5–10 years’ construction experience with strong hazard recognition skills
* NCSO certification required; OHS certificate an asset
* Proven experience leading inspections, training, and incident investigations
* Strong organizational and communication skills — ability to coach and influence
* A positive, proactive personality with the confidence to build credibility on-site
* Willingness to travel to sites across Manitoba and Western Canada
* Company vehicle program (fleet + electric pool cars for city use; mileage covered for personal vehicle use)
