YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage a multi-million-dollar annual purchasing spend for up to 3000 sku’s (fibre optical cables/wires, electronics, metal enclosures and housing, plastics, hardware components)
* Manage suppliers: build existing relationships and expand the vendor-base by researching and sourcing new suppliers (500+ supplier base)
* Forecast and plan lead times with vendors to ensure materials are available to meet constant swings in customer manufacturing demand
* Continually communicate with key suppliers and source secondary suppliers when necessary; Local, National and International sourcing
* Develop and manage cost optimization strategies within the supply base, including portfolio consolidations and pricing negotiation
* Generate purchase orders within the ERP system for a variety of raw materials and hardware components
* Collaborate with Warehouse Manager to ensure optimal inventory levels and to mitigate delays in production
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiencies and reduce costs within the purchasing department
* Prepare pricing packages for Sales department
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* 5+ years of progressive purchasing experience (preference for industrial manufacturing sector)
* Post-secondary education in purchasing (PMAC) or supply chain (SCMP) is an asset
* Strong problem-solving skills to optimize minimal turnaround time with vendors
* Proven relationship-building with key internal and external stakeholders
* Experience leading projects in purchasing and implementing cost-saving initiatives
* Demonstrated urgency and confidence in decision-making
* Big-picture thinker with adaptability to new challenges and a results-driven approach
