THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our client is a global leader in high-performance windows and doors, operating across multiple countries with thousands of employees worldwide. Their GTA facility manufactures both windows and doors, operating across 2 shifts with approximately 250 employees.
With the current Plant Manager transitioning into retirement, we are seeking an experienced, floor-focused leader to take the helm of this dynamic facility. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the VP & General Manager of Canada with immediate ownership of plant operations, financials, safety and a team of tenured direct reports.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
DIRECT & MANAGE ALL PLANT OPERATIONS
* Oversee day-to-day production across morning and afternoon shifts (glass, door, vinyl, and maintenance teams)
* Drive manufacturing KPI’s including SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
* Lead a team of 7 including Production, Safety, Supply Chain, Maintenance and Quality, with dotted-line relationships to HR and finance
LEAD FINANCIAL FORECASTING AND BUDGETING
* Develop, control and implement the plant budget to maximize profitability
* Report weekly financials directly to the VP & GM of Canada
* Manage operating expenditures, labour costs, overtime, and capital improvement projects
CHAMPION SAFETY AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
* Oversee implementation of safety and preventative maintenance programs
* Coordinate with CI Managers, Safety Teams, and Process Engineering to drive lean manufacturing processes
* Incorporate shop floor organization to ensure production processes are fluid and efficient
MANAGE UNION RELATIONS
* Serve as a key stakeholder in collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations
* Foster productive relationships with approximately 200 unionized employees on the plant floor
LEAD THROUGH PEOPLE
* Hire, train, develop and appraise managerial and plant personnel
* Instill the company’s mission and cultural values across all levels of the facility
* Bring a visible, floor-first leadership style – connect with people across all levels of the organization
EXPERIENCE THAT MATTERS:
* 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in windows/doors, lumber, or related industries
* Demonstrated financial acumen – hands-on experience with P&L, budgeting, and forecasting
* Proven experience managing unionized workforces and navigating collective bargaining
* Advanced knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, CI methodologies (SQDCI, TPS, OTD)
* Strong communicator and natural leader – someone who is energized by being on the floor
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
