We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll professional to join a dynamic payroll team with a well-established Winnipeg company. In this role, you will be responsible for processing complex payrolls for both Canadian and U.S. employees—including unionized and non-unionized staff—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where precision and accountability are key.
WHY WORK WITH THIS COMPANY?
This company offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional development and training. Employees enjoy a collaborative, team-oriented work environment and the chance to be part of an industry leader with a strong reputation for excellence.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for a portfolio of business units to support Canadian and/or U.S. employee population using Workday, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and state regulations.
* Accurately assess and input payroll-related data including hours worked, garnishments, tax changes, and benefits deductions.
* Review and verify payroll inputs and outputs, including year-end tax documents such as T4s and W-2s.
* Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and timekeeping issues in Workday and UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) systems.
* Reconcile payroll payments and deductions, and prepare remittance reports to third-party providers (e.g., benefit carriers, tax authorities).
* Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records.
* Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll practices align with company policies, accounting standards, and collective agreements.
WHAT YOU BRING
* Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high-volume, complex payroll environment—or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
* Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources, Commerce, or Accounting considered an asset.
* Solid understanding of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation, tax regulations, and year-end processing requirements.
* Hands-on experience with Workday and UKG payroll/time tracking systems is strongly preferred.
* Familiarity with unionized environments and interpreting collective agreements.
* Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and effectively support internal stakeholders.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
