Our client, a well-established manufacturer of bulk material handling equipment, is looking for a licensed Design Engineer who’s ready to take ownership of an entire product family and become the go-to expert.

You’ll own belt conveyor and handling systems from concept through manufacturing – applying your structural engineering foundation to specialized equipment where your load calculations, stress analysis, and design skills will create immediate value. Learn belt conveyor applications, CEMA standards and mechanical systems while contributing your expertise from day one.

You’ll see your design manufactured and installed across North America while building your reputation as the recognized authority on the entire product line.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Core Engineering Design & Calculations
* Perform capacity and load calculations for belt conveyors, including belt tension analysis, motor sizing, and structural support design.
* Design structural components including conveyor frames, support structures, catwalks, access platforms, and equipment mounting systems.
* Conduct stress analysis, deflection calculations, and load path analysis for conveyor systems and supporting infrastructure.
* Create detailed mechanical renderings, fabrication drawings, and specification reports using SolidWorks.
* Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (CEMA, CSA, provincial building codes).
* Provide engineering calculations and stamped drawings as required for project approvals.
Equipment & Product Development:
* Design bulk material handling equipment including belt conveyors, screw conveyors, drag conveyors, bucket elevators, valves, and gates.
* Apply structural engineering principles to material handling applications.
* Provide design support in the R&D of new products.
* Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical reports.
Collaboration & Technical Support:
* Liaise with Operations, Sales & Estimating to ensure specifications are interpreted correctly and designs are manufacturable.
* Support the development of project schedules, budgets, and cost estimation based on engineering analysis.
* Provide technical expertise and support to internal departments.
Professional Standards & Development:
* Adhere to organizational regulations and provincial guidelines with a focus on safety and engineering best practices.
* Stay current on industry-specific design trends, material handling standards, and technology.
* Understand manufacturing processes including welding, fabrication, and power transmission design to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:
Qualifications & Experience:
* Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered and in good standing with a provincial engineering association.
* 5+ years of structural design and calculation experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
* Strong competency in structural analysis, load calculations, and engineering fundamentals.
* Fully competent in SolidWorks for detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, and fabrication drawings.
* Understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes (welding, structural steel fabrication, power transmission)
* Experience designing structural components such as:
·    Equipment support structures, frames, and platforms
·    Industrial catwalks, access systems, or mezzanines
·    Structural steel connections and assemblies
·    OR bulk material handling structures (chutes, hoppers, conveyors, bins, elevators)

Preferred (can be learned):
* CEMA (Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association) standards knowledge
* Material handling software tools (Belt Analyst)
* Background in grain handling, mining, aggregate, or bulk material handling equipment
* CSA standards for structural design
