Accounting Clerk / Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Clerk to join our internal accounting team for a 6-week term.This role supports a high-volume Accounts Payable function and plays an important part in ensuring invoices are processed accurately and on time. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented office environment and demonstrate strong attention to detail and accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Review, enter, and process approved Accounts Payable invoices with speed and accuracy
* Assist with writing approvals and supporting monthly cheque runs
* Enter and code incoming payable invoices and process them as required
* Support the processing large volume of invoices per month
* Create and maintain job setups and cost codes
* Monitor and respond to inquiries in the Accounts Payable Outlook inbox within 72 business hours
* Assist with manual systems related to contract and project data
* Provide administrative support for special projects as needed
* Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic and physical filing systems
* Work collaboratively with the accounting team to ensure smooth daily operations

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* 1–2 years of experience in Accounts Payable, accounting, or accounting-related data entry
* Proven attention to detail, speed, and accuracy in high-volume processing
* Strong accounting knowledge with experience using accounting systems
* Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
* Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong team player with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate
* Related education in Accounting or Business Administration
* Experience with construction or in-house accounting software
* Background in customer service, cash management, or banking
