THE OPPORTUNITY:
A well-established, globally integrated manufacturer with a strong Winnipeg presence is seeking an experienced engineering leader to take ownership of a broad and technically diverse support function. This is a high-impact role within a stable, process-driven organization known for long employee tenure, rigorous operational standards, and a culture of continuous improvement.
The incoming leader will oversee five functional groups — facilities maintenance, equipment maintenance, surface mount technology (SMT) programming, process manufacturing engineering, and test engineering — with a team of approximately 21 professionals ranging from designated engineers and technologists to specialized technical staff.
The role is well-established, with a strong foundation of processes, documentation, and team capability already in place. The mandate is to lead, unblock, and elevate — not to rebuild. This is an on-site, Monday–Friday position with a predictable schedule that reflects the organization’s commitment to sustainable performance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
*Provide day-to-day leadership across five technical functions, acting as a coach and obstacle-remover rather than a hands-on technical resource
*Guide teams through a metrics-driven operating rhythm, including high-performance team (HPT) meetings, quality councils, and change review boards
*Oversee product transfers, new product launches, and capital equipment projects — ensuring high-risk initiatives receive appropriate attention and stay on track
*Address operational issues — equipment downtime, test system failures, change reviews — by directing the right resources and escalating where needed
*Lead succession planning for subject matter experts approaching retirement, with a focus on knowledge transfer and continuity within the manufacturing engineering group
*Manage performance across the team, including development planning, conflict resolution, and coaching support for individuals who need it
*Navigate capital expenditure processes and corporate approval structures with confidence
*Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory and safety requirements

EXPERIENCE THAT MATTERS:
Required:
*Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or a related technical or business discipline
*Minimum 5–10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated progression into leadership
*Proven track record leading teams of 10 or more in a structured, process-oriented environment
*Familiarity with electronics manufacturing, PCBA products, or high-volume/high-mix production environments
*Comfort operating within established corporate structures, approval processes, and documentation frameworks
Preferred:
*Exposure to two or more of the following: facilities management, equipment/maintenance engineering, SMT programming, manufacturing process engineering, or test engineering
*Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies and quality systems (APQP, PPAP, FMEA)
*Background in a large, publicly traded, or similarly structured corporate environment
The ideal person for this position will bring a genuine “jack of all trades” orientation — technically literate across disciplines without needing to be the expert in any one of them. Someone even-keeled and consistent who will lean into people challenges, stay steady under pressure, and are as comfortable in a biweekly metrics review as they are troubleshooting an unexpected equipment failure.
