YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support a team of 12 employees, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
* Monitor team KPIs and ensure employees are meeting departmental goals and targets.
* Support the team with complex account issues, collections matters, disputes, auditing, and reconciliation.
* Oversee account balancing and workload allocation across the team.
* Review account aging, past-due accounts, and other reporting to identify issues and areas requiring attention.
* Prepare and review weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports and analysis.
* Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze data and prepare reporting, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, slicers, and macros.
* Ensure team members follow established auditing principles, procedures, and compliance requirements.
* Identify risks, compliance issues, and opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
* Provide recommendations regarding account resolutions, write-offs, and escalated matters.
* Manage employee vacation, PTO, sick time, attendance, and other day-to-day employee matters.
* Conduct 30/60/90-day reviews, semi-annual performance reviews, goal setting, and employee development planning.
* Participate in hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
* Coach employees through performance concerns, troubleshoot issues, and address conflicts within the team.
* Maintain team motivation and a positive, accountable work environment.
* Communicate issues, reporting, and recommendations to senior leadership as required.
* Participate in special projects and support process improvements and changes as the department evolves.
* Help ensure timely resolution of outstanding issues and support the overall performance of the department.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* 5+ years of hands-on management and leadership experience, with experience navigating team challenges and managing through change.
* Previous leadership/team management experience is required. Trucking or transportation industry experience is strongly preferred.
* Experience in collections, accounts receivable, auditing, or accounting would be an asset; collections knowledge can be trained.
* Strong Excel skills, including experience with PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and slicers; experience with macros is an asset.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach employees, resolve conflicts, and build trust within a team.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle issues independently and make decisions under pressure.
* Positive, approachable, and firm-but-fair leadership style.
* Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
* Tenacious and solutions-oriented, while maintaining a professional and respectful approach.
* Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with numbers, reporting, and account information.
