Put your mechanical estimating expertise to work in a high-impact role with one of Manitoba's most respected plumbing and heating contractors.
As the Estimator, you are the engine behind every winning bid — building competitive quotes, leading a junior estimator, and ensuring every project is scoped accurately and profitably. From initial drawing review through final bid submission, you'll own the full estimating process. If you're detail-driven, commercially sharp, and ready to take the lead in a company that rewards quality over shortcuts, this is your seat at the table.
WHY WORK WITH THIS COMPANY?
Enjoy a competitive salary that reflects your experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package and company pension plan. You’ll also have the opportunity for strong vertical career growth with a company that promotes from within and is committed to delivering quality above all else.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
*Own the estimate desk: Take full ownership of commercial project estimates — from reviewing drawings and specifications through to final bid assembly and submission.
*Perform material take-offs: Accurately quantify materials and costs, building detailed Excel-based models and maintaining estimating software with precision.
*Source competitive pricing: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain current, competitive pricing for equipment and materials.
*Review subcontractor bids: Assess sub-trade bids for capability, scope gaps, and risk — and mitigate any gaps before they become field problems.
*Produce PCN pricing and clarifications: Prepare and submit clarifications and PCN pricing for projects as required; obtain bid bonds and surety documents when needed.
*Lead a junior estimator: Supervise and develop a Junior Estimator, building a high-performance estimating function for the commercial department.
*Attend site visits and meetings: Get on-site when it matters and meet with project foremen to ensure estimates reflect real-world conditions.
*Collaborate with leadership: Participate in estimating manager reviews — bringing accuracy, accountability, and commercial insight to every assignment.
